Moirabari Hosts POSH Act Awareness Programme for Women’s Empowerment

On September 6, 2023, a significant awareness programme focused on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act was held in Moirabari. This event was part of a ten-day campaign aimed at empowering women, organized by the District Hub for Women Empowerment Center in collaboration with the Moirabari Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project.

The programme took place at the Moirabari Gram Panchayat office and attracted a diverse audience. Attendees included the Block Development Officer of Moirabari, educators from the Rastra Bhasa School, the local health officer, the Moirabari Child Development Project Officer, and several community supervisors. Local women also participated, reflecting the community’s interest in the empowerment initiative.

The Project Officer provided an overview of the POSH Act, which is a legislative measure established by the Government of India to ensure the safety and dignity of women in the workplace. The Act outlines mechanisms for preventing sexual harassment and provides guidelines for addressing complaints effectively.
