Mohamed Salah Hits Milestone as Liverpool Triumph Over Bournemouth
In a thrilling season opener for the Premier League, Mohamed Salah scored a dramatic goal in the 94th minute, leading Liverpool to a 4-2 victory against Bournemouth at Anfield on August 12, 2025. This memorable match not only showcased Salah’s exceptional skills but also marked a significant milestone in his career as he became the joint fourth-highest scorer in Premier League history.
Salah’s goal, his 187th in the league, ties him with the legendary Andy Cole. Of these goals, 185 have come during his time at Liverpool, with the remaining two scored while he played for Chelsea. The Egyptian forward is now just one goal away from claiming the outright fourth spot, surpassing Cole. He trails only behind Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane, and Alan Shearer in the all-time scoring list.
As the match concluded, Salah was visibly emotional, with fans at Anfield paying tribute to the late Diogo Jota. The outpouring of support highlighted the strong connection between the team and its supporters, as they celebrated both the victory and the memory of their fallen teammate.
In addition to his impressive scoring record, Salah has accumulated 87 assists throughout his Premier League career. He is a two-time Premier League champion and has secured the league’s Golden Boot award on four occasions. Notably, during the previous season, Salah became the highest-scoring foreign player in Premier League history, surpassing the record of Sergio Aguero who scored 184 goals while at Manchester City.
Comparatively, Andy Cole achieved his 187 goals in 414 appearances, providing 73 assists. His accolades include five Premier League titles and a Golden Boot award. Salah, in contrast, has reached this milestone in fewer matches, demonstrating his consistent scoring ability and impact on the field.
As the 2025-26 season progresses, all eyes will be on Salah as he aims to further etch his name in Premier League history. With his remarkable talent and determination, it is clear that he is set to continue breaking records and inspiring fans worldwide.
