JP Nadda Criticizes Himachal Government for Fund Mismanagement
JP Nadda, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has launched a stern critique of the Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh, accusing it of gross mismanagement and corruption regarding the utilization of central funds. Speaking at a public gathering in Shimla on Saturday, Nadda asserted that the Union government has consistently provided financial assistance to the state whenever requested.
Nadda stated, “There is no shortage of funds from the Centre. Whenever funds were demanded, they were given.” He highlighted that the Central government had released thousands of crores for various purposes, including disaster relief, infrastructure, health, and development projects, yet alleged that the state government has failed to effectively implement these initiatives.
Claims of Misuse and Administrative Failures
According to Nadda, the funds allocated for critical projects have been mismanaged, leading to incomplete works and unspent budgets. He remarked, “Projects are incomplete, funds remain unspent, and governance is ad-hoc.” The BJP president also criticized the operational effectiveness of key institutions within the state, claiming that governance had come to a near standstill, with treasuries closed and key administrative posts vacant or held by officials on additional charge.
The BJP leader expressed concern over the decline in the administrative standards of Himachal Pradesh, stating, “Himachal Pradesh once ranked among the best-governed states; today, it suffers from administrative collapse.” He called for renewed efforts to restore effective governance and development, urging the state to re-establish a “double-engine government” that could better facilitate coordination between the Centre and the state.
Nadda emphasized the significance of a cooperative relationship in achieving visible development, saying, “Himachal Pradesh needs a double-engine government again so that funds reach the ground and development is visible.” He reiterated the BJP’s commitment to revitalizing the state’s development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Call for Political Change
In his address, Nadda framed the current situation as necessitating more than just administrative reform; he called for a shift in government. “Time demands not just administrative change but change of government as well. I am confident the people will fulfil this responsibility,” he said, urging residents to consider the implications of their political choices.
The BJP president concluded his remarks by encouraging the electorate to evaluate their options, placing the BJP on one side as a party ready to support Himachal’s development and the Congress government on the other as unworthy of public trust. His statements reflect the BJP’s broader strategy to regain influence in the state ahead of upcoming elections, positioning itself as the party capable of restoring progress and stability.
