Fire Breaks Out at Thane Eatery; Rapid Response Averts Casualties
A fire erupted late on October 14, 2023, at the popular eatery, Walk and Grill Express, located in Abhijeet Society in Thane (W). The incident, which was reported at 12:05 AM by local representative Sanjay Waghule, originated from a microwave oven inside the establishment owned by Rupesh Malabari.
Initial assessments indicate that a small fire quickly escalated, causing significant disturbance in the surrounding area. Local authorities, including the Thane Fire Brigade and the Disaster Management Cell, responded promptly. By 12:20 AM, the teams had successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the adjacent seven-storey residential building.
Officials confirmed that, remarkably, no injuries or fatalities occurred as a result of this incident. The swift actions of the fire brigade and disaster management personnel were critical in controlling the situation and ensuring the safety of nearby residents.
Another Fire in Mumbai Causes Injuries and Rescues
In a separate incident earlier on the same day, a fire at a nine-storey business park in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, left at least six individuals injured. The fire broke out around 14:35 in the Goldcrest building on LBS Road and was extinguished after more than four hours, at approximately 19:00.
According to reports by the Press Trust of India (PTI), the fire’s smoke infiltrated the electric duct on the ground floor, causing it to spread to higher floors. While many occupants managed to escape, some became trapped. Fire Brigade personnel and other agencies successfully rescued 280 people who were stranded on the building’s terrace.
Tragically, six individuals sustained injuries while attempting to escape through windows in a panic. The response efforts showcased the resilience and coordination of emergency services in tackling such dangerous situations.
Both incidents highlight the importance of rapid emergency response measures in minimizing harm during fire emergencies. As authorities continue to investigate the causes of these fires, the community remains grateful for the tireless efforts of first responders.
