Customs Inspect Actor Amith Chakalakkal’s Luxury Cars Amid Questions

Customs officials are currently inspecting the residence of actor Amith Chakalakkal in Kochi as part of an ongoing operation known as Operation Numkhor. The focus of the investigation is on the documentation of two luxury vehicles owned by the actor, including a Land Cruiser and a Lexus, both registered in Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh. These vehicles have been seized by customs authorities for further examination.
The situation escalated when customs officials executed a raid at the former residence of veteran actor Mammootty in the affluent Panampilly Nagar area of Kochi. Reports indicate that no discrepancies were found regarding Mammootty’s vehicles during this inspection.
Following the customs inquiry, Amith Chakalakkal’s brother addressed the ongoing situation. He stated, “We have been using one Land Cruiser for almost five years and another one for three years. The customs officials wanted to know where we purchased the cars from. Every detail has been handed over to them.” Despite this cooperation, customs officials remain skeptical about the legitimacy of the purchase, prompting them to request that Amith appear for questioning.
In a dramatic turn of events, Amith has reportedly summoned police and his personal lawyer to his residence during the ongoing customs inspection. This move has raised questions about his willingness to cooperate with the investigation, as officials claim he is not fully engaging with their inquiries.
The scrutiny surrounding Amith Chakalakkal reflects wider concerns about luxury vehicle ownership and potential discrepancies in documentation. The customs department is determined to resolve these issues thoroughly, ensuring that all regulations are adhered to regarding high-value purchases in the country.
As the investigation unfolds, the focus remains not only on Amith’s vehicles but also on the broader implications for the entertainment industry and luxury goods market in India. Stakeholders are watching closely, as the outcome could have lasting repercussions for both the actor and the regulatory landscape.
