The Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted four infiltration attempts from Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the neutralization of eight terrorists, according to Inspector General Ashok Yadav. This announcement highlights the ongoing vigilance of the BSF along the Line of Control (LoC) amid evolving threats including new infiltration routes and narco-terrorism.

Operational Achievements and Strategies

During a detailed briefing, Yadav shared that the BSF has successfully prevented 13 infiltrators from entering Indian territory this year. Of these, eight were engaged and eliminated by the Army, while five were pushed back across the border. This proactive approach is part of a broader strategy known as Operation Sindoor, which aims to counter any aggressive actions from Pakistan.

Yadav emphasized, “We are fully prepared to give a befitting response to any attempt from across the border.” He highlighted that the first phase of Operation Sindoor took place from May 6 to May 10, 2025, where BSF units, in collaboration with the Indian Army, conducted fire assaults on Pakistani posts and terrorist launch pads along the LoC.

According to Yadav, the infiltration tactics employed by terrorists have become increasingly sophisticated, with attempts to breach the border through new routes. However, he noted that the close coordination between the BSF and Army, bolstered by a robust intelligence network, has facilitated timely interventions against these threats.

Addressing Narco-terrorism and Emerging Threats

The Inspector General expressed concern over the rising tide of narco-terrorism, describing it as a significant internal threat aimed at flooding Kashmir with drugs to finance terrorism and target local youth. He pointed out that there are currently around 69 active launching pads along the LoC, where an estimated 100–120 terrorists await infiltration opportunities.

Yadav revealed that some of these launching pads have been relocated deeper into Pakistani territory following sustained Indian military operations. In response to inquiries regarding operations driven by BSF intelligence, he stated that the force has provided “a significant number” of actionable inputs leading to successful counter-terror operations and the recovery of war-like stores.

Furthermore, Yadav discussed the emergence of “white-collar” terror modules involving educated youth without prior military backgrounds. He characterized this as a growing challenge, stating, “All security and intelligence agencies are jointly working to detect silent recruitment and dismantle such networks.”

In support of local law enforcement, the BSF has stationed 13 companies in the hinterland to assist the Jammu and Kashmir Police in counter-terror operations and monitor areas prone to radicalization.

On the subject of drone activity, Yadav noted that drones have been observed across the LoC primarily for surveillance purposes, although there have been no recent violations of the border. The BSF’s operations cover 343 kilometers of the LoC, ensuring the security of vital installations while collaborating closely with the Indian Army, J&K Police, and other security agencies.

Reiterating the BSF’s commitment to the people of Kashmir, Yadav stated, “We are always here to serve the people of Kashmir. Their safety and well-being remain our top priority.” This assurance reflects the ongoing dedication of the BSF to maintain peace and security in the region amidst persistent challenges.
