Authorities Demolish Illegal Colony in Yamunanagar District

A team from the Town and Country Planning Department in Yamunanagar conducted a demolition drive targeting an illegal colony in the district. The operation took place on land situated in the controlled area of Chhappar Mansoorpur village, which is near Saraswati Nagar town. This action was initiated following directives from Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta.
Rajesh Kumar, the District Town Planner of Yamunanagar, explained that the demolition was necessary due to the unauthorized development of the colony. He stated, “We were informed about the illegal activities occurring in Chhappar Mansoorpur village, which prompted the formation of a dedicated team for the demolition.” Kumar further mentioned that the Naib-Tehsildar of Saraswati Nagar was appointed to oversee the operation and maintain law and order during the drive.
The demolition team focused on dismantling the unpaved roads within the illegal colony, which encompassed approximately seven acres of land. Kumar highlighted that notices had been issued to the landowners as per the regulations under Controlled Area 41 of 1963, but the necessary compliance was not observed.
He emphasized that the individuals responsible for the colony failed to obtain the required permissions before proceeding with construction on the land. “The landowners and others involved did not adhere to departmental orders, which necessitated this demolition,” Kumar stated.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by local authorities in Yamunanagar to regulate land use and curb illegal developments. The Town and Country Planning Department continues to monitor unauthorized constructions to ensure compliance with legal standards.
