The outage was reported around 16:00, leading to over 3,500 complaints logged on the outage monitoring site Downdetector. Other telecom companies, including Jio and Vodafone-Idea (Vi), also experienced issues, albeit on a smaller scale.

Users on Jio reported approximately 200 outages by 17:00, while Vi received about 50 complaints. The widespread disruption prompted many users to express their frustrations on social media platform X, highlighting their inability to make or receive calls and send messages.

Airtel acknowledged the situation in a response to a user complaint, stating, “We are currently experiencing a network outage. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue and restore services promptly. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.” This acknowledgment aimed to reassure customers that efforts were underway to rectify the problems.

Frustrated customers took to X, sharing their experiences with the outage. One user remarked, “@Airtel_Presence @airtelindia services are completely down. Unable to make or receive calls and even messages are not working. This is causing serious inconvenience. Please resolve the network outage immediately and confirm ETA for restoration.” Another user added, “If you are an #Airtel user, and unable to make calls, you’re not alone. Seems like a widespread outage.”

The outage’s timing coincided with peak usage hours, intensifying the impact on users relying on reliable telecom services for both personal and professional communication.
