Air India Moves 60 Domestic Flights to Terminal 2 at Delhi Airport
Air India has confirmed plans to relocate a portion of its domestic flights at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Beginning on October 26, 2025, 60 of the airline’s daily domestic flights will shift from Terminal 3 (T3) to Terminal 2 (T2). This change is part of ongoing expansion work at T3, aimed at increasing international passenger capacity, as stated by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL).
The affected flights have been renumbered under a new series, starting with ‘AI-1XXX’. Passengers should note that the remaining 120 daily domestic flights, along with all international flights, will continue to operate from T3. The airline has emphasized the importance of checking terminal information on tickets, the Air India website, or the mobile app before arriving at the airport.
Passenger Guidance and Terminal Transfers
To facilitate a smooth transition for passengers, Air India has implemented several support measures. A free shuttle service will operate every 20 minutes between Terminals 1, 2, and 3. For those with reduced mobility, buggy services will be available, and all travelers can use a covered walkway connecting T2 and T3.
Travelers should allocate 30-45 minutes for terminal transfers to account for travel and potential waiting times. Baggage procedures will vary based on the type of journey. For international to domestic connections, passengers must collect their bags at arrivals, clear customs, and drop them at the T3 transfer desk. In contrast, those with domestic-to-domestic or domestic-to-international flights with through-checked baggage will not need to collect their bags.
Ensuring Communication and Support
Air India has urged passengers to keep their contact details updated to receive timely notifications regarding any terminal changes. Ground staff will be on hand, easily identifiable by their uniforms, to assist travelers during this transition.
The airline reiterated the importance of verifying terminal information before arriving at the airport. According to Air India, terminal details are also printed on tickets for easy access.
In summary, with the upcoming changes, travelers should remain vigilant and informed to ensure a seamless travel experience at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
