Rishabh Pant Confirms Foot Fracture, Out of Fourth Test Against England
Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, is set to miss the remainder of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford due to a confirmed foot fracture. The injury occurred during the opening day of play on March 15, 2024, when Pant sustained damage to his right foot while attempting a reverse sweep against England’s fast bowler, Chris Woakes.
During the second session, Pant edged the ball onto his foot, resulting in immediate pain and visible swelling. He was batting at 37 runs at the time and had to retire hurt, leaving the field on a golf buggy. Following the incident, Pant underwent scans that confirmed the fracture.
The Indian team management is currently deliberating on Pant’s ability to bat in the ongoing Test. While he has been ruled out of keeping wicket, a final decision on his batting status will be made in consultation with the BCCI medical staff.
This injury poses a significant setback for India as they compete against England in this crucial match. Pant has been an integral part of the team, contributing not only with his wicketkeeping but also as a dynamic batsman. His absence will be felt as India strives to secure a win in the Test series.
As the situation develops, further updates are expected from the team management regarding Pant’s recovery and potential return to play.
