Pratika Rawal Shares Insights on Batting Partnership with Mandhana

In a thrilling display of cricket, Team India triumphed over Australia by a commanding margin of 102 runs in the second women’s ODI match held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Punjab. The victory showcased strong performances, particularly from Smriti Mandhana, who scored an impressive 117 runs off just 91 balls, complemented by four sixes and 14 boundaries. Meanwhile, Pratika Rawal contributed valuable runs, scoring 25 runs from 32 balls.
Reflecting on her batting partnership with Mandhana, Rawal emphasized the natural chemistry they share on the field. “I think it’s quite easy and quite natural,” said the 25-year-old cricketer. “We don’t have to talk much between innings; she does what she does best, and I do what I do best. There’s an understanding between us that feels natural, not made up.”
Rawal, who hails from Delhi, highlighted their similar personalities as a factor in their seamless collaboration. “Even off the field, she’s an introvert and so am I, though we’d call ourselves more ambiverts,” she noted. This shared trait allows them to connect effortlessly, enhancing their performance during matches.
On the pitch, the focus remains solely on the game. “The only focus is the next ball, and everything else follows step by step,” Rawal explained. She expressed her enjoyment of batting alongside Mandhana, stating, “I enjoy batting with her more than she enjoys batting with me, so it’s always great, especially the way she plays and takes on every ball. It’s just so amazing to see.”
The third and final ODI between Team India and Australia is scheduled for September 20, 2023, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Following this series, both teams will prepare for the upcoming ODI Women’s World Cup 2025, which begins on September 30, 2025.
India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia includes notable players such as Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (Vice-Captain), Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, and Deepti Sharma. The same lineup will also represent India in the ODI Women’s World Cup 2025.
As the series progresses, the synergy between Rawal and Mandhana will be pivotal for India’s performance on the international stage. Their partnership not only enhances the team’s batting strength but also sets a strong foundation for the challenges ahead in the World Cup.
