Dhubri Hosts Engaging Quiz Competition Under Bharat Vikas Parishad

A branch-level quiz competition organized by the Dhubri branch of the Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) took place at the Dhubri Police Reserve Auditorium on Sunday, marking a significant community event. The programme commenced with floral tributes to the portraits of key figures, including Bharat Mata, Swami Vivekananda, and the renowned singer Zubeen Garg. Participants and attendees joined in chanting Vedic mantras, setting a respectful tone for the day.

The formal inauguration featured the singing of the national song, “Vande Mataram.” Bimal Oswal, a senior member of the parishad, delivered an inspiring address outlining the objectives and mission of the Bharat Vikas Parishad, which focuses on national development through cultural and educational initiatives.

Competition Format and Participant Engagement

The quiz competition was expertly conducted by Jugal Kishore Bhattacharya, a lecturer at Chilarai College, who served as the Quiz Master. He was supported by Dr Umesh Das and Dr Sandeep Thakur. The event featured two categories: the junior section for students in Classes VI to VIII and the senior section for those in Classes IX to XII.

In total, 68 participants from 34 teams competed in the junior section, while 48 participants from 24 teams participated in the senior section. The competition began with a preliminary written round, after which the top six teams from each category advanced to the final on-stage round.

In the junior category, the duo of Arian Kutub and Rajat Sethia from Happy Convent School claimed the first position, showcasing their knowledge and teamwork. Meanwhile, in the senior section, the champions were Benazir Chowdhury and Akhi Akhtar Begum from Apollo English Medium School, who demonstrated remarkable skills and quick thinking.

Looking Ahead to State-Level Competition

Following their victories, both winning teams earned the opportunity to represent the Dhubri branch at the state-level quiz competition scheduled for November 2, 2023. In a conversation with The Sentinel, Amiya Sundar Saha, the secretary of the parishad, expressed pride in the participants and highlighted the importance of such competitions in promoting educational excellence and community engagement.

Events like this not only foster a spirit of competition among students but also contribute significantly to their overall development, encouraging them to pursue knowledge and cultural understanding.
