Afghanistan Crushes Bangladesh by 200 Runs to Complete ODI Sweep

Afghanistan secured a commanding victory over Bangladesh, winning the third One Day International (ODI) by a staggering 200 runs on October 14, 2025. This decisive win completed a 3-0 whitewash in the three-match ODI series, underscoring Afghanistan’s dominance in the format.
Batting first, Afghanistan set an imposing total of 293 runs for 9 wickets. The standout performer was opener Ibrahim Zadran, who scored a brilliant 95 runs. He received invaluable support from Mohammad Nabi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, both of whom contributed significantly to the team’s innings.
In response, Bangladesh struggled to establish their footing. Although they began their chase steadily, the Afghan bowlers quickly turned the tide. Bilal Sami and Rashid Khan dismantled Bangladesh’s middle order, leading to a dramatic collapse. Bangladesh was bowled out for just 93 runs, with Sami achieving a remarkable five-wicket haul and Khan capturing three wickets.
The series showcased Afghanistan’s impressive all-round performance. While Bangladesh had shown promise during the preceding T20I series, their inability to maintain that form in the ODIs has raised concerns about their consistency in the longer format.
In another development, Afghanistan’s batter Rahmat Shah was ruled out of the third ODI due to a calf injury, which may impact his participation in upcoming matches against Zimbabwe.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board celebrated the team’s success on social media, stating, “AFGHANISTAN WHITEWASHED BANGLADESH IN ODI SERIES!” This victory not only reflects Afghanistan’s growing prowess in international cricket but also sets a positive tone as they look ahead to future competitions.
As the series concludes, Afghanistan’s performance stands as a testament to their development in the sport, while Bangladesh will need to reassess their strategy heading into future matches.
