A.J. Brown Responds to Criticism Amid Eagles’ Offensive Struggles

Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown addressed recent speculation about his performance during a locker room session on Thursday. When questioned about whether he is still the same impactful player, Brown offered a pointed response, referencing fellow player Saquon Barkley: “I guess Saquon ain’t the same player either, then.”

The Eagles’ offense has encountered challenges this season, ranking 25th in total yards with an average of 300.1 yards per game. Their passing game is even lower, coming in at 28th with 184.9 yards per game, while they sit 29th in third-down conversion rate at 33.87%. In contrast, the team’s rushing numbers have improved slightly, averaging 115 yards per game, which places them 17th in the NFL. This is a significant drop from their impressive 179 rushing yards per game in 2024, where they ranked second.

Mixed Results for the Eagles Offense

Despite these struggles, Philadelphia boasts the best red zone offense in the league, converting 75% of their opportunities into touchdowns, and they have registered a league-low of just four turnovers. Combined with a defense that has consistently performed well, the Eagles maintain a strong position at the top of the NFC with an 8-2 record.

Individual performances, however, have not met expectations, including Brown’s own statistics. Over nine games, he has recorded 38 receptions for 457 yards and three touchdowns, which puts him on pace for 812 yards—his lowest output in a season since entering the league.

When asked if he follows the performance of other wide receivers, such as CeeDee Lamb, Brown admitted he prefers to avoid comparisons, indicating that it “gets me upset.” He noted, “There’s a time and place for it but right now, I’m just trying to stay focused.” This indicates his commitment to improving his own performance rather than dwelling on others.

Focus on Team Success and Upcoming Challenges

Brown’s frustration has been evident at times this season, both on social media and during press interactions, reflecting his desire to contribute positively to the team’s success. Reports have surfaced regarding tension within the Eagles’ ranks, particularly directed at quarterback Jalen Hurts. When pressed on this issue, Brown deflected, stating, “Ask me about Dallas. Thank you.”

As the Eagles prepare to face the Dallas Cowboys, who currently hold a 4-5-1 record, Brown emphasized that the Eagles share a similar sense of urgency. “We’re desperate too. We’re trying to get it going,” he said, underscoring the critical nature of their upcoming matchup.
