SS Rajamouli Celebrates ISRO’s ‘Baahubali’ Rocket Launch
Filmmaker SS Rajamouli expressed his excitement over the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) decision to name one of its rockets after the iconic character from his film, Baahubali. This announcement coincided with ISRO’s successful launch of its heaviest communication satellite, CMS-03, which took place on November 2, 2025. The satellite aims to enhance India’s telecommunication and broadcasting capabilities.
Rajamouli celebrated this milestone in a post on X, stating, “Congratulations to #ISRO on the successful launch of the heaviest communication satellite CMS-03 today! A proud moment for India, showcasing our technological strength and self-reliance in space exploration. Onwards and upwards!” His message resonated with many, highlighting the pride associated with India’s advancements in space technology.
ISRO’s Notable Achievement
The launch of CMS-03 marked a significant achievement for ISRO, utilizing its most powerful launch vehicle. The rocket, now affectionately referred to as ‘Baahubali’, symbolizes the strength and capability of India’s space program. Rajamouli noted, “Our entire Baahubali team is elated as @ISRO fondly named this rocket ‘Baahubali’… Truly a privilege for all of us.”
The filmmaker’s remarks come as his epic films, Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, reentered theatres in a remastered version on October 31, 2025. The rerelease has been met with enthusiasm, earning nearly ₹25 crore within the first three days. The original films collectively grossed over ₹2,000 crore at the global box office, cementing their status as a cultural phenomenon.
A Cultural Connection
The connection between ISRO and Rajamouli’s cinematic creation reflects the broader narrative of India’s growth in both entertainment and technology. With the naming of the rocket, ISRO not only celebrates its achievements but also pays homage to a film that has resonated deeply with audiences worldwide.
The Baahubali franchise, featuring popular actors such as Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, and Nassar, has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Rajamouli’s vision has not only entertained millions but also inspired pride in India’s capabilities across various fields.
As ISRO continues to push the boundaries of space exploration, the sentiment expressed by Rajamouli serves as a reminder of the cultural significance of such achievements for the nation. The launch of the CMS-03 satellite, now associated with Baahubali, represents a fusion of India’s artistic and scientific endeavors, showcasing a future full of possibilities.
