Odisha Government Launches Initiative for New Science City

The Odisha government has embarked on an ambitious plan to establish a state-of-the-art Science City in Bhubaneswar. This initiative, spearheaded by the Science and Technology Department, aims to create a modern facility that supports scientific inquiry and innovation.
Krushna Chandra Patra, the Minister of Science and Technology, has been actively exploring successful models of science cities in other states. Last week, he visited Patna to examine the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City. During his visit, he engaged in discussions with Bihar’s Deputy Chief Ministers, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhury, to gain valuable insights into the construction and operational frameworks of the established facility.
The proposed Science City in Bhubaneswar will cover 100 acres and is set to feature modern exhibitions, immersive learning spaces, and advanced research facilities. The initiative aims to foster scientific curiosity and education while promoting cutting-edge research and development. Minister Patra emphasized that this project will serve as a hub for scientific exploration, inspiring the next generation of innovators and researchers in Odisha.
To ensure the project’s success, a high-level committee will be established. Additionally, specialized officers from Bihar will be invited to Odisha to provide expert consultation, drawing from their experience in developing the existing science city. This collaboration highlights the Odisha government’s commitment to leveraging expertise from other regions to enhance its own scientific landscape.
The initiative aligns with national goals of fostering innovation and education in science and technology. It is expected to elevate Odisha’s position in the field and contribute significantly to the local economy by attracting researchers, students, and professionals.
As the project progresses, it will be closely monitored to ensure that it meets global standards and effectively serves the needs of the community. The establishment of the Science City represents a significant step forward in Odisha’s pursuit of becoming a leader in scientific research and education.
In conclusion, the initiative to create a new Science City in Bhubaneswar reflects a strategic effort by the Odisha government to inspire innovation and cultivate a vibrant scientific community.
