Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb Criticizes CPIM’s Legacy
Former Tripura Chief Minister and current Member of Parliament, Biplab Kumar Deb, has labeled the Communist Party of India (Marxist) – known as CPIM – as an “Emergency Party.” His remarks came during a sports event held in Kumarghat, located in Unakoti District of Tripura. Deb criticized the party for its long-standing governance, claiming it led the state toward destruction over the course of its 35 years in power.
Deb expressed his discontent with the CPIM’s legacy, stating, “Their leaders were ill-minded and always carried an ill mentality. They assured the public they would work for their benefit, but instead, they destroyed the state.” He emphasized his view that the party is synonymous with a “permanent emergency” in Tripura, arguing that they neglected the culture and well-being of the state.
The MP also took aim at the CPIM’s support for sports and youth development. He alleged that the party did not facilitate adequate training infrastructure for athletes, specifically mentioning Padma Shri awardee Dipa Karmakar. “There was no proper practice infrastructure for her,” he claimed, highlighting a broader concern regarding the party’s commitment to fostering sports in Tripura.
Deb further criticized the ideological stance of the CPIM, stating, “Communists never want the development of people, neither of society nor of the country.” He affirmed his commitment to public service, stating that he dedicates “only one hour for myself so that I can give the rest of the time to serve the people and the nation.”
In his remarks, Deb expressed optimism about the future, suggesting that by following the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura can achieve new heights. He underscored the importance of sports and physical fitness among the youth, encouraging them to engage in exercise for a healthier lifestyle.
While acknowledging the role of political parties, Deb emphasized the cultural roots of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that it is grounded in Indian culture and traditional values. His comments reflect ongoing political tensions in the region as the BJP seeks to consolidate its influence against the backdrop of the CPIM’s historical governance.
