Tirupati Commissioner Urges Citizens to Enhance Cleanliness Efforts
The Municipal Commissioner of Tirupati, N. Mourya, has called on citizens to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness in their homes and surrounding areas. During a recent inspection on March 15, 2024, in Ward 30, which includes the reservoir colony and the ayurvedic hospital area, she emphasized the importance of public cooperation in raising sanitation standards throughout the city.
Inspection Highlights and Community Engagement
Accompanied by municipal officials, Mourya assessed ongoing sanitation efforts in key locations such as the SVIMS junction. She engaged with residents to evaluate the regularity of garbage collection services and to ensure that waste was being appropriately handed over to sanitation workers. During her discussions, she noted that some households were irresponsibly disposing of waste outside instead of utilizing the collection service.
In light of these observations, Mourya appealed to the community to directly hand over their garbage to collection vehicles. She highlighted that such cooperation is critical for enhancing the cleanliness of the city. “The responsibility for maintaining a clean environment lies with each one of us,” she stated.
Addressing Waste Disposal Issues
Furthermore, Mourya cautioned against the practice of dumping waste into drains, which has led to significant blockages and waterlogging on roads. This situation not only causes inconvenience but also poses health risks to the public. During her inspection, she specifically directed staff at the ayurvedic hospital not to dispose of medical waste in drains, reiterating the importance of following proper waste disposal protocols.
To reinforce these messages, Mourya warned that fines would be imposed on individuals who violate sanitation regulations. Her firm stance aims to ensure that all residents uphold their responsibilities in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
Municipal engineer G. Gomati, health officer Dr. Yuva Anvesh, and other officials were present during the inspection, underscoring the collaborative effort needed to improve sanitation in Tirupati. The involvement of local authorities and citizens is seen as crucial in tackling the challenges posed by waste management and public health.
As the initiative unfolds, the Municipal Commissioner hopes that increased awareness and community engagement will lead to lasting improvements in the city’s cleanliness standards. The call for action serves as a reminder of the collective role citizens play in fostering a healthier environment for all.
