The campaign for the by-election in the Nuapada Assembly constituency in Odisha is intensifying as the opposition Congress party prepares to mobilize its national leadership. As part of this effort, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to visit Nuapada on November 7, 2023, to participate in key election activities. This visit aims to strengthen the party’s position ahead of the by-election set for November 11, 2023.

During his visit, Reddy is expected to address a public meeting, which is part of a series of events designed to energize local supporters. The president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), Bhakta Charan Das, confirmed these plans while reviewing the arrangements at the meeting site, Nuapada Salevata. He was accompanied by Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi and other prominent party members, including MLA Ashok Das and former IAS officer and Congress spokesperson Amit Hussain.

Reddy is among the 40 star campaigners selected by the Congress party for this crucial by-election. Notable figures on the campaign roster include former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel and senior Rajasthan leader Sachin Pilot. Other campaigners include Ajay Kumar Lallu, the All India Congress Committee’s Odisha in-charge, along with Kanhaiya Kumar and Alka Lamba. Party insiders believe that the involvement of these national leaders will invigorate grassroots efforts and potentially help Congress regain its influence in the region.

In contrast, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) are also implementing their strategies for the upcoming election. The BJP has nominated Jay Dholakia as their candidate and will receive support from key figures including Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The BJD is backing former Minister Snehangini Chhuria, who will be supported by former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other senior party leaders such as Prasanna Acharya and Debi Prasad Mishra. Both Patnaik and Majhi are expected to actively campaign soon to enhance the prospects of their respective candidates.

As the political landscape in Nuapada evolves, the presence of national leaders and the strategic maneuvers of all parties involved will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of this by-election.
