Supriya Sule Calls for Urgent Action to Aid Beed Youth in Dubai
On November 21, 2025, Supriya Sule, a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, urged the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to intervene on behalf of a young man from Beed district, Maharashtra, who is reportedly trapped in serious legal and humanitarian trouble in Dubai. The individual, Akash Suresh Jagtap, traveled to Dubai in search of employment but claims to have been cheated by an intermediary, which has left him facing significant legal challenges.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sule expressed her concern for Jagtap’s well-being. She noted that his family has lost all contact with him and is experiencing immense emotional stress as they navigate the uncertainty of his situation. Sule’s message emphasized the critical nature of Jagtap’s plight, stating, “His situation remains critical and his contact with family members has been cut off.”
Despite the family’s efforts to secure his release, including making substantial payments to the intermediary, the circumstances surrounding Jagtap have not improved. Sule appealed directly to Dr. S. Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, and the Consulate General of India in Dubai, calling for immediate diplomatic and consular action to ensure Jagtap’s safety and facilitate his return to India.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about the exploitation of Indian job-seekers abroad, particularly those who fall victim to unauthorized recruitment agents and fraudulent intermediaries. Sule’s intervention has amplified public awareness, prompting calls on social media for the government to expedite its efforts in resolving the case.
In a separate matter, on August 25, 2025, Sule also addressed local safety concerns in Mumbai’s upscale Breach Candy area. She requested Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, to take urgent steps to close liquor shops that residents claim are causing disturbances and posing safety risks.
In her letter to Pawar, Sule referenced complaints from the Breach Candy Residents’ Forum, which reported that nearby liquor outlets are contributing to noise pollution, traffic congestion, and late-night gatherings. The proximity of these establishments to local schools and a hospital has raised alarms among residents about the safety of women and children in the area.
Sule highlighted that approximately 200 local residents have signed a memorandum demanding the closure of these shops, pointing out that police frequently respond to disputes and assaults linked to the establishments. She stated, “Women and senior citizens in particular have raised concerns over safety.”
Both of Sule’s appeals illustrate her commitment to addressing pressing issues affecting her constituents, whether they be related to international affairs or local community safety. The calls for action not only reflect her political engagement but also resonate with the broader concerns of citizens regarding safety and well-being in their communities.
