Supreme Court Ruling Allows Kethireddy Pedda Reddy’s Homecoming

Former YSRC MLA Kethireddy Pedda Reddy returned to his home in Tadipatri, located in the Anantapur district of India, on March 16, 2024, after a prolonged absence of nearly 15 months. His return was facilitated by a directive from the Supreme Court, which mandated police to ensure his safety during the homecoming.
To maintain order during Pedda Reddy’s return, Anantapur District Superintendent of Police P. Jagadish deployed 672 police officers to monitor the situation. This included securing the route from Thimmampalli village, where Pedda Reddy began his journey, to his residence in Tadipatri. Until now, police had restricted his access to the town following violent confrontations during the last general elections, primarily due to opposition from ruling party leaders, including municipal chairman J.C. Prabhakar Reddy.
The legal journey leading to Pedda Reddy’s return involved extensive court proceedings. The Supreme Court ultimately concluded that he could return home only if he assumed responsibility for the security arrangements. Following the court’s guidance, police facilitated his safe entry under specific conditions.
On the day of his return, Pedda Reddy commenced his journey from Thimmampalli after conducting a pooja at a local temple. He was accompanied by around 40 close aides in a convoy of vehicles. Upon arriving at his residence, family members warmly welcomed him home.
Expressing his emotions, Pedda Reddy conveyed his gratitude to the police for their support in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ruling. He remarked on the significance of returning to his hometown and reassured the community of his commitment to address their concerns. “I am here to work for the welfare of the people of Tadipatri,” he stated.
Pedda Reddy’s re-entry into Tadipatri marks a significant turn in his political journey, reflecting the intersection of law, local governance, and community relations. His future actions will likely be closely monitored by both his supporters and detractors as he navigates the challenges ahead.
