The skeletal remains discovered in an abandoned house in Hyderabad’s Nampally area are believed to belong to Ameer Khan, who is suspected to have died nearly a decade ago. Police officials announced on Tuesday that the identification is based on preliminary investigations and information gathered from family members.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Kishan Kumar, Ameer was approximately 50 years old, unmarried, and may have been mentally unstable. The investigation revealed no signs of foul play, such as blood stains or indications of a struggle. ACP Kumar stated, “It appears to be a natural death,” noting that the condition of the bones suggested they had been there for several years.

The remains were found along with an old Nokia mobile phone and several demonetised currency notes. The phone, which had a dead battery, was restored and showed 84 missed calls dating back to 2015. This evidence further supports the theory that Ameer Khan may have passed away around that time or earlier.

Discovery and Identification

The discovery of the remains was made by a local resident who entered the abandoned house to retrieve a cricket ball. Upon filming the interior, the individual found a human skeleton lying face-down on the kitchen floor. The house, owned by Muneer Khan, Ameer’s father, had been uninhabited for some time. Muneer Khan has ten children, and while Ameer lived alone in the residence, the rest of the family had relocated.

Ameer’s younger brother, Shadab Khan, identified the remains based on a ring and a pair of shorts found with the body. He had not checked on Ameer for years, although he used to visit the area to collect rent from nearby shops.

The investigation is ongoing, but police have indicated that the circumstances surrounding Ameer Khan’s death appear to reflect a tragic situation rather than a criminal act. Further forensic analysis is expected to provide more clarity on the timeline and cause of death. The discovery has raised concerns within the local community about the welfare of individuals living alone in similar circumstances.
