Piyush Goyal Promotes India-Russia Trade Ties, Calls for Barriers to Fall
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has reaffirmed the robust partnership between India and Russia, calling for the removal of trade barriers to enhance bilateral cooperation. During a recent address, Goyal quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that despite external challenges, “no matter how low the temperature falls, the friendship between the two nations remains warm.”
Reflecting on the goals established during the 2014 summit with President Vladimir Putin, Goyal noted that the targeted $30 billion in bilateral trade by 2025 has already been exceeded. This achievement underscores the potential for further economic collaboration between the two countries.
Emphasizing Trade Diversification
Goyal stressed the necessity of diversifying the trade basket to ensure a balanced exchange of goods and services. He emphasized that eliminating existing trade barriers is crucial for unlocking new opportunities and enhancing economic ties. “With collective efforts from both sides, India-Russia cooperation can flourish,” he stated, pointing to the importance of addressing trade imbalances and creating a mutually beneficial economic landscape.
The minister highlighted that sustained efforts in trade and economic collaboration can significantly strengthen strategic ties between the two nations. This aligns with India’s broader strategy to enhance its global trade footprint while reinforcing relationships with key partners.
Goyal’s remarks come at a time when both countries are looking to solidify their economic ties further, particularly in light of changing global dynamics. By promoting open trade and cooperation, both India and Russia can better navigate the complexities of the current geopolitical climate.
As the relationship continues to evolve, the focus will remain on fostering an environment conducive to trade and investment, ensuring that both nations can reap the benefits of their longstanding friendship.
