Over 261,000 Ganesh Idols Immersed Amid Grand Celebrations

The immersion of Ganesh idols continued vigorously on September 24, 2023, as over 261,000 idols were immersed by 07:00. This marked the second day of activities related to the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which celebrates the Hindu deity Ganesh. The immersion operations saw a significant turnout, with a wide array of vehicles, including trucks, mini trucks, and trollies, queuing along key routes such as the Telugu Thalli Flyover, the Secretariat, NTR Gardens, and Necklace Road.
Authorities reported that cranes were in operation at designated immersion sites, facilitating the process. Despite the early hour, large crowds gathered at popular locations including Hussain Sagar Lake. The enthusiasm surrounding this year’s immersion was notably higher than last year’s, according to a senior official from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Record Participation in Immersion Activities
This year’s immersion festival has drawn overwhelming participation across the city, reflecting a vibrant community spirit. The GHMC noted that the number of idols immersed this year surpassed previous records, demonstrating the enduring popularity of the celebration. The festival, marking the culmination of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, has become a significant annual event for residents and visitors alike.
As the immersion continues, officials are committed to ensuring safety and order at all sites. The GHMC has implemented various measures to manage the large crowds and facilitate a smooth immersion process. These efforts are crucial in maintaining the festive atmosphere while ensuring the safety of participants.
With the successful immersion of a record number of idols, the celebrations are set to continue, fostering a sense of unity and joy within the community. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival not only represents a religious observance but also serves as a cultural touchstone for many, illustrating the rich traditions and practices that characterize this vibrant city.
