Odisha Officers R P Koche and Yeshwant Jethwa Empanelled for DG Roles
Two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from the Odisha cadre, R P Koche and Yeshwant Jethwa, have been empanelled for central deputation at the rank of Director General (DG) or equivalent. This decision highlights the increasing recognition of state officers within India’s national security framework.
R P Koche, a 1993-batch officer, currently serves as the Director of Intelligence. He is renowned for his extensive operational experience and leadership in critical intelligence operations. Koche’s empanelment not only underscores his capabilities but also enhances Odisha’s representation in the higher echelons of India’s security apparatus.
Similarly, Yeshwant Jethwa, a 1994-batch officer and presently the Director of Vigilance, has also been approved for a DG or equivalent position at the Centre. Jethwa has gained a reputation for his integrity and effectiveness in leading anti-corruption initiatives within Odisha, earning him recognition on a national level.
Significance of the Empanelment
The empanelment of these two officers reflects a broader trend of acknowledging the expertise and leadership qualities of Odisha cadre officers in national governance. Their ascension to key roles at the central level opens up opportunities for enhanced collaboration between state and national security frameworks.
The central government’s decision indicates a shift towards leveraging local expertise in addressing nationwide challenges. By entrusting experienced state officers with significant responsibilities, the administration aims to foster a more integrated approach to governance and public safety.
Both Koche and Jethwa have made substantial contributions to their respective fields. Koche’s strategic insights in intelligence gathering and Jethwa’s commitment to transparent governance are expected to bring valuable perspectives to their new roles.
As these officers prepare for their positions at the Centre, their careers stand as a testament to the potential of state-level officers in shaping national policy and security measures. Odisha, through the achievements of Koche and Jethwa, continues to demonstrate its capacity to contribute significantly to India’s administrative and strategic landscape.
