Mumbai CET Cell Investigates 152 Medical Aspirants for Document Fraud

The CET Cell in Mumbai has initiated an investigation involving 152 medical aspirants who allegedly submitted incorrect documentation during the admission process. The investigation follows complaints regarding discrepancies in the documents these students provided as part of their application for the medical admissions conducted through the State Common Entrance Test.

On Friday, the CET Cell confirmed that it received multiple complaints concerning the validity of documents submitted by these aspirants. Upon conducting an initial verification, the CET Cell found the documents of all 152 students to be invalid. As a result, notices were dispatched to the involved candidates, instructing them to re-upload their original and authentic documents.

Limited Response from Students

Despite the urgency of the situation, only one student has complied with the CET Cell’s request and successfully uploaded the correct documents. The verification of these newly submitted documents is currently in progress. The CET Cell had set a deadline of 12:00 noon on Thursday for all students to present their case and submit valid documents.

The investigation highlights an additional challenge: many of the 152 students provided incorrect email addresses and phone numbers in their applications. This has made it significantly more difficult for the CET Cell to reach out to them for clarification and compliance. In response, the CET Cell has contacted the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the National Medical Commission to request complete details regarding these students.

Next Steps for Admission Process

Once the CET Cell receives and verifies the information from the MCC, they will take a final decision on the admission status of the 152 students involved in the investigation. The outcome of this inquiry will determine whether these aspirants can continue in the admission process or face disqualification due to the submission of invalid documents.

This situation underscores the importance of accurate documentation in the admission process for aspiring medical students. The CET Cell aims to ensure a fair and transparent process moving forward, emphasizing the need for candidates to provide authentic and accurate information in their applications.
