Lunar Eclipse Leads to Cancellation of Garuda Seva at Tirumala

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced the cancellation of the monthly Pournami Garuda Seva scheduled for the evening of September 7, 2023, due to the occurrence of a lunar eclipse. This decision also affects other religious ceremonies, including Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam, and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva. TTD officials have urged devotees to plan their pilgrimage accordingly in light of these cancellations.
In contrast, the ongoing Pavitrotsavams at the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanoor has continued with a series of vibrant religious observances. The second day of the festival featured a significant event known as Pavitra Samarpana. The day commenced with the morning ritual of Suprabhatam, followed by Sahasranamarchana and Nityarchana.
At 11:30, the sacred Pavitra Samarpana was performed, during which pavitrams were ceremoniously offered to the presiding deity, processional deities, sub-temples, and other significant temple elements. This ritual is an essential part of the temple’s tradition, symbolizing the devotees’ devotion and reverence.
In the evening, from 18:00 to 20:00, the temple conducted various Vedic rituals, which included worship, homams, nivedana, and teertha prasada goshti in the Yagashala. These ceremonies contribute to the rich tapestry of ritualistic practices that define the Pavitrotsavams and engage the community in a shared spiritual experience.
Devotees are encouraged to participate in the ongoing festivities at the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, while being mindful of the changes to the schedule due to the lunar eclipse. The TTD remains committed to preserving the sanctity of its religious observances while ensuring the safety and well-being of its devotees.
