The graffiti, written in the Odia language, read, “Terrorists will demolish the Srimandir. Call me, or else there will be destruction.” Additionally, several phone numbers were inscribed alongside references to influential figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the city of Delhi. A local resident noted the alarming content, highlighting the sense of urgency surrounding the incident.
Police Response and Investigation
In response to the discovery, Puri Superintendent of Police Pinak Mishra visited the site and emphasized the seriousness with which the police are treating the threats. He confirmed that police teams are being assembled to identify and apprehend those responsible for the graffiti.
“We have taken cognizance of the matter and are taking it very seriously,” Mishra stated. He indicated that initial investigations suggest the threats were made on the evening of Tuesday, prior to their discovery. The police are actively reviewing CCTV footage from the area in an effort to gather further evidence.
Mishra added that security measures are being enhanced in the vicinity. “CCTVs have been installed at several places. Security guards have also been deployed,” he noted, assuring the public that the investigation is proceeding with urgency.
