The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is seeking cooperation from recognized political parties to assist in finalizing the electoral roll for the upcoming byelection in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency. During a recent meeting at the GHMC headquarters, officials engaged with party representatives to discuss the special summary revision (SSR) of the electoral roll.

As part of the Election Commission’s timeline, integrated draft rolls were published on September 2, 2025, covering 407 polling stations across 139 locations. These draft rolls have been distributed to all recognized political parties and are also available on the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana (CEO-TS) and GHMC websites.

GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan emphasized the importance of participation from political parties, urging them to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at each polling station. This initiative aims to enhance transparency during the claims and objections period, which runs until September 17, 2025. He highlighted that all citizens who turn 18 years old by July 1, 2025, must register to vote before this deadline.

As of September 7, 2025, there have been 2,855 claims and objections submitted through various forms, including Form-6, Form-6A, Form-7, and Form-8. Notably, over 8.62% of these claims have been processed in a timely manner. Commissioner Karnan called upon party representatives to collaborate with the election machinery to ensure the final publication of electoral rolls on September 30, 2025.

In preparation for the revision review, GHMC officials also engaged in discussions with party representatives about creating a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based Nazari Naksha, which would further facilitate the electoral process.

The active involvement of political parties is seen as crucial to the integrity and efficiency of the electoral roll preparation, as the GHMC aims to ensure a transparent and fair byelection process in Jubilee Hills.
