Court Orders Temple Activist to Cease Defamatory Statements

A recent ruling from the **Madras High Court** has placed restrictions on temple activist **Rangarajan Narasimhan**, prohibiting him from making any defamatory statements against **Vedic scholar** and orator **Dushyanth Sridhar** on social media. The court’s decision comes in response to a defamation suit filed by Sridhar, who is seeking damages amounting to **1 crore** (approximately **$120,000**).
During the hearing on **March 18, 2024**, Justice **K Kumaresh Babu** addressed the allegations made against Narasimhan. The court found that the activist had indeed admitted to making certain statements on social media. However, Narasimhan’s defense claimed that these statements were neither defamatory nor derogatory. The court disagreed, concluding that the remarks in question were of a defamatory nature.
In its ruling, the court stated, “There shall be an order of interim injunction pending disposal of the suit.” This interim order effectively prevents Narasimhan from continuing with his statements that could harm Sridhar’s reputation.
