Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Advocates for Film Industry Reform

In a significant move to enhance the working conditions within the film industry, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has expressed his commitment to engage in discussions with cine workers. During a meeting held on Sunday at his residence, the chief minister underscored the urgent need for improving the work environment for those in the film sector.
Reddy’s meeting included prominent film producers and directors, where he emphasized that the government is prepared to provide comprehensive support to facilitate necessary changes. He intervened to address ongoing worker strikes, asserting that disputes should not disrupt the industry’s atmosphere. The chief minister proposed establishing a corpus fund aimed at enhancing skills across various sectors of the film industry.
Commitment to Skill Development and Training
Highlighting the potential for film-related training, Reddy indicated that arrangements could be made through the Young India Skill University. He remarked that the Telugu film industry has achieved international recognition, making it imperative to implement reforms in film production and working conditions.
Reddy urged producers to treat their workers with compassion and called for the introduction of a new policy developed in consultation with industry stakeholders, including film producers and workers. He assured attendees that the government would protect the interests of both the workforce and the producers. “Let us write a new chapter by taking into consideration the needs of the film industry,” he stated, emphasizing that the government will not tolerate control of systems by a select few.
Fostering a Collaborative Environment
The chief minister reiterated the importance of compliance with legal standards, stating, “Everyone has to work in accordance with the law.” He also expressed his intention to maintain neutrality in industry affairs and encouraged the production of more Telugu films in Telangana, positioning Hyderabad as an emerging hub for international film production.
Among those present at the meeting were key figures such as advisor Vem Narender Reddy and Dil Raju, chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation. Notable producers like Allu Aravind, D Suresh Babu, and directors including Trivikram Srinivas and Boyapati Srinivas also attended, indicating a broad industry support for the proposed changes.
Overall, Chief Minister Reddy’s proactive approach aims to foster a collaborative environment that not only supports the workforce but also enhances the reputation and operational standards of the Telugu film industry.
