BJP Delays Odisha Team Announcement Until National President Elected
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has confirmed that it will not announce its new team of office bearers for the Odisha unit until after the election of the party’s national president. This information was shared by Manmohan Samal, the president of the state BJP, during a press briefing in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Organisational Process Aligned with Party Constitution
Samal emphasized that appointments to various organisational posts will be made in accordance with the party’s constitutional framework. He stated that no decisions regarding the state team will be finalized until the national leadership is established. “This is a constitutional practice within the party. Following the election of the national president, we will proceed with state-level appointments and team formation,” Samal explained.
When asked about the timeline for electing the party’s national president, Samal noted that no specific deadline has been set as of now. This uncertainty comes amidst speculation surrounding a restructuring of the Odisha BJP unit, particularly in light of the party’s recent electoral performance. While Samal has been re-elected as the state unit president, the announcement of new office bearers remains pending.
Internal Discussions Planned for State Appointments
In addition to the leadership changes, Samal addressed the party’s approach to filling positions in various state-run corporations and boards. He indicated that internal discussions will take place before any decisions are made. “We will ensure that organizational roles and responsibilities are taken into serious consideration as we move forward,” he assured.
The BJP’s decision to delay the announcement of its new team reflects a strategic alignment with its overall organizational practices and aims to ensure a coherent leadership structure. As the party navigates this transitional phase, members and supporters will be looking for clarity on future appointments and the direction of the Odisha unit.
