Arunachal Pradesh Strengthens Grassroots Policing with New Station

The Arunachal Pradesh government is enhancing grassroots policing with the inauguration of a new police station in Old Ziro, Lower Subansiri district. On July 26, Home Minister Mama Natung emphasized the government’s commitment to improving public safety and ensuring a quicker response to community needs.
During the inauguration ceremony, Natung urged residents to work together towards making the region free from crime and drug-related issues. He acknowledged the importance of community involvement in achieving these goals. “I assure you that all points in the memorandum presented by the locals will be addressed within two years,” he stated, reinforcing the government’s dedication to local concerns.
In addition to the police station, Natung announced that the government had approved funds for the construction of a fire station in the area. He called on local MLA and the deputy commissioner to expedite the land acquisition process, highlighting the urgency of establishing a fully operational fire station in the valley.
Community and Police Collaboration
Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra expressed the necessity for an integrated check post at both Dilopolyang and Maniipolyang, as well as additional police barracks. He stressed that these facilities would enhance the operational efficiency of law enforcement in the region.
Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme noted that the new police station is expected to significantly boost public confidence within the community. The presence of law enforcement is crucial in fostering a sense of security among residents.
The issue of drug abuse among the youth in Arunachal Pradesh was also addressed by Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Take Ringu. He raised concerns about the increasing prevalence of substance abuse and called for a united effort from all community members, including village elders, to combat this growing menace.
The inauguration of the police station marks a pivotal step towards strengthening law enforcement and community safety in Arunachal Pradesh. As the government moves forward with its plans, the focus remains on collaboration between authorities and residents to create a safer and more secure environment for all.
