AIADMK Leader Claims Voter Roll Changes Expose DMK’s Tactics
The deletion of over 9 million names from the draft electoral roll has highlighted the necessity for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), according to Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the general secretary of the AIADMK party. During a rally held on September 29, 2023, in Chennai, Palaniswami asserted that the removals were essential to eliminate fraudulent voters allegedly used by the DMK to undermine democratic processes in the state.
Following the publication of the draft electoral roll, which resulted from the recent enumeration process, Palaniswami took to social media platform X to voice his concerns. He accused the DMK of being involved in a scheme to manipulate election outcomes through fake voting. Palaniswami stated, “The DMK’s aspirations to regain power through fraudulent means have been thwarted by the necessary revisions to the voter list.”
The AIADMK has consistently advocated for a review of the electoral rolls due to concerns over fake votes. Palaniswami emphasized that the recent deletions serve to validate the party’s position. He urged voters not to panic if they find their names missing, reassuring them that they can register as new voters by completing Form 6 and submitting it to the Election Commission of India.
To facilitate this process, the AIADMK plans to deploy its Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) to assist individuals in registering. Palaniswami commended his party members for their efforts in the SIR process and instructed them to ensure that the deletions were justified. He stressed the importance of verifying that any improper removals are corrected, encouraging agents to visit affected voters and help them complete their registration forms.
Palaniswami also highlighted the need for vigilance regarding any remaining fraudulent entries on the electoral roll. He called on his party’s agents to take proactive measures to ensure that any fake voters are removed, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.
As the electoral landscape evolves, the implications of these changes may significantly affect the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu. The AIADMK’s commitment to addressing electoral integrity will likely play a crucial role in shaping voter confidence and participation in the region.
