Vice President Radhakrishnan Embarks on Inaugural Karnataka Visit
Vice President CP Radhakrishnan has commenced his first official visit to Karnataka, arriving in Bengaluru on March 15, 2024. During this visit, he will participate in significant events, including the centenary commemoration of Jain monk Acharya Shri 108 Shanti Sagar Maharaj Ji and the convocation ceremony at the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research.
Upon his arrival, Vice President Radhakrishnan was welcomed by Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, and other dignitaries. He received a ceremonial Guard of Honour as part of the formal reception.
Commemoration of a Jain Spiritual Leader
A highlight of the Vice President’s itinerary is his participation in the commemoration event at Shravanabelagola, located in Hassan district. This event honors the centenary of Acharya Shri 108 Shanti Sagar Maharaj Ji’s first visit to the site in 1925. As part of the ceremony, Radhakrishnan will take part in the Installation Ceremony of Acharya Shri Shanti Sagar Maharaj’s idol and the naming ceremony of the Fourth Hill, as stated by the Vice President’s Secretariat.
Engagements in Mysuru and Mandya
Later in the day, Radhakrishnan will attend the sixteenth Convocation Ceremony of the JSS Academy in Mysuru, which is affiliated with the Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math, Suttur Srikshetra. Here, he will address graduating students, sharing insights and inspiration as they embark on their future endeavors.
The Vice President’s visit also includes a trip to the old premises of Suttur Math, a significant monastic centre in Karnataka. He will offer prayers at the Shree Chamundeshwari Devi Temple near Mysuru and the Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple in Melkote, Mandya.
On March 13, 2024, Radhakrishnan served as the Chief Guest at the third Convocation Ceremony of SRM University in Sonepat, Haryana. Addressing the attendees, he congratulated the graduates, emphasizing that their academic achievements reflect not only their hard work but also the values instilled during their studies. He praised the guidance provided by educators and encouraged graduates to focus on their unique paths, highlighting the vast opportunities available in today’s world.
Radhakrishnan’s visit to Karnataka underscores his commitment to engaging with the diverse cultural and educational landscape of India, as he continues to fulfill his role as Vice President.
