Sainik School Kunjpura Celebrates 65th Founder’s Day with Honors
Sainik School, Kunjpura, celebrated its 65th Founder’s Day on March 15, 2024, honoring the vision of its founder, VK Krishna Menon. The event featured a range of activities aimed at recognizing the achievements of the school and its cadets. Major General Sanjay Hooda, Sena Medal, Chief of Staff at HQ 2 Corps, served as the chief guest for the occasion, which commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Sai Kunj War Memorial.
Following the memorial tribute, cadets presented a guard of honour to the chief guest. The event, conducted under the leadership of Captain (IN) Gurbir Singh, included an investiture ceremony. During this segment, Major General Hooda pinned ranks on newly appointed cadet leaders and administered the oath of office. He encouraged the cadets to “wear your uniform with dignity, carry your school’s name with pride and serve the nation with honour,” emphasizing the vital role disciplined youth play in shaping India’s future.
The principal presented the school’s annual report, highlighting significant achievements, including a remarkable 100 percent pass rate in Classes X and XII. Major General Hooda praised the institution’s efforts, particularly noting the commendable selection of cadets for the 153rd and 154th NDA courses. He expressed admiration for the school’s holistic approach to education and the success of its female cadets.
As part of the celebrations, several cadets received prestigious awards. Cadet Sahil (Class XII), Cadet Aaryan (Class X), Cadet Anushka Raj (Class VIII), and Cadet Bhumit (Class IX) were recognized for their outstanding performances. The Best All-Rounder Trophy was awarded to former school captain Cadet Madhur Singal, while Cadet Rishabh Tripathi received the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Trophy for achieving the highest rank in the UPSC NDA/NA examination.
The competitive atmosphere extended to the house system as well. Chillianwala House was awarded the Champion of Champions Trophy for the third time in four years, along with additional accolades for overall best house (senior and junior), best sports (senior and junior), and best academics (senior). Other notable winners included Shakargarh House, recognized for best academics and overall best holding house, and Thaneshwar House, which secured the NDA Trophy.
The event underscored the commitment of Sainik School Kunjpura to fostering excellence and discipline among its cadets, reinforcing its legacy in nurturing future leaders for the nation.
