RSS Marks 100 Years with Grand Procession in Madikeri

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) celebrated its centenary with a vibrant Vijayadashami procession in Madikeri on October 22, 2023. This significant event drew over 1,700 volunteers who marched through the city’s main streets, showcasing the organization’s enduring presence in the community.

The procession commenced at Indira Gandhi Circle and continued through notable locations such as Ganapati Street, Mahadevpet, and Ajjamada Devaiah Circle. It culminated at Gandhi Maidan after passing Gen. Thimayya Circle. Participants included both children and adults, reflecting a collective spirit of celebration and unity.

Prominent figures attended the event, including former speaker KG Bopaiah, BJP district president Napanda Ravi Kalappa, former district president Paleyanda Robin Devaiah, RSS Mangaluru division Pracharak Suresh, and division chief Subhash. Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion, highlighting the RSS’s role in shaping social and cultural aspects in the region.

The community also demonstrated its culinary support by preparing a remarkable 5,500 chapatis. Volunteers visited approximately 275 homes in Madikeri, requesting that each household contribute 20 chapatis for the event. This initiative not only fostered local engagement but also provided lunch for the volunteers at Gandhi Maidan. Alongside the chapatis, residents served bananas and buttermilk, further enhancing the communal spirit of the day.

The Vijayadashami procession served as a platform for the RSS to reflect on its century-long journey, celebrating its achievements while fostering a sense of camaraderie among attendees. The event not only marked a significant milestone for the organization but also showcased the strong bond between the RSS and the communities it serves.
