Konkani Kulvar Association Celebrates Monthi Fest in Bengaluru

The Konkani Kulvar Association held its annual Monthi Fest on September 8, 2023, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ulsoor, Bengaluru. This vibrant celebration involved a series of rituals, including the veneration of Mother Mary, followed by the blessing of new paddy rice. The event culminated in a concelebrated holy Mass conducted in Konkani, featuring notable priests such as Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, Fr Francis D’Souza, Fr Maria Luis (parish priest), and Fr Joseph Anthony (assistant parish priest).

The Mass was enriched by a choir led by Renny Lobo. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Pramila Rodrigues, who delivered the opening speech. The event also recognized academic excellence, as six students were honored for their meritorious achievements.

In his address, Dr Ajith Royan, the president of the Konkani Kulvar Association, expressed gratitude to all members for their efforts, support, and contributions that made the celebration memorable. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in such events.

Following the Mass, new paddy was distributed, sponsored by Sylvian Noronha. The festivities continued with the offering of sugarcane and a breakfast arranged for attendees, creating a sense of unity and celebration among the community members.
