Good Earth Launches New Block-Print Collection Celebrating Tradition

Good Earth has unveiled its latest block-print collection, further enriching its design legacy through a focus on traditional craftsmanship. The new series, titled “Building Blocks of Good Earth,” revisits and reimagines iconic designs that have significantly influenced the landscape of Indian block printing. This initiative aims to document the intricate artistry that begins well before any block meets fabric.
The block-printing process is a meticulous interplay of mathematics and artistry. Each design is crafted with precision, transforming colors and motifs into a cohesive narrative. Over the years, Good Earth has expanded its design lexicon beyond classic Mughal influences, introducing a diverse array of flora, fauna, and architectural motifs that evolve while preserving their traditional roots.
Highlights of the New Collection
Among the standout designs is the “Periyar,” first introduced in 2004. This design broke new ground in Indian block printing with its tropical aesthetic, steering away from the conventional Sanganeri style towards large-scale motifs featuring banana palms and riverine flora. Its ongoing popularity stems from a harmonious blend of bold visuals, technical excellence, and timelessness.
Alongside “Periyar,” other beloved designs such as “Nishaat,” “Fergana,” and “Mysore” have become integral to Good Earth’s offerings. Each motif tells a unique story, incorporating elements like the distinctive traveller’s palm, ceremonial elephants from Mysore, and whimsical cypresses from “Nishaat.” These designs introduce fresh forms and cultural narratives into the realm of block printing.
The upcoming 2025 edition of the “Mysore” collection will feature innovations including coffee berries, a more fluid interpretation of the traveller’s palm, playful candy-cane stripes, and an updated color palette anchored by shades of madder rose and cool aqua. This new layout offers motifs greater space, infusing the collection with movement and modernity while maintaining the beloved aesthetic of previous years.
The “Mysore” bed collection is priced between ₹3,200 and ₹18,000, making it accessible to a range of customers. Alongside this launch, Good Earth is introducing “Luminous Kashi,” a festive collection that celebrates the luminous cultural heritage of Banaras through an array of tableware, décor, and textiles.
With these new offerings, Good Earth continues to reinforce its commitment to craftsmanship and innovation, ensuring that each piece resonates with both tradition and contemporary design sensibilities.
