Gen Z Women Prioritize Fertility Checks, Survey Finds

A recent survey conducted by **Motherhood Hospitals** and **Nova IVF Fertility** indicates a significant shift in health priorities among women of **Generation Z**. The study, which included over **200 women aged 23 to 30** from metropolitan and tier-I cities across India, revealed that **51%** of participants desire routine fertility tests as part of their regular health check-ups. This trend highlights a growing awareness of reproductive health among younger women, reflecting their serious approach to health planning.
The survey results underscore a proactive attitude toward family planning, with **40%** of respondents intending to begin trying for pregnancy between the ages of **28 and 32**. Additionally, **25%** of the women expressed concerns regarding their fertility timelines, indicating an increased understanding of the impact of age on reproductive health.
Health Concerns and Awareness
The survey also pointed to a rise in conditions such as **Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)**, thyroid issues, obesity, and the trend of delayed parenthood. Dr. **Sharvari Mundhe**, a Consultant Fertility Specialist at **Motherhood Hospitals** in **Bengaluru**, noted that while approximately **20%** of women are diagnosed with conditions that can affect fertility, many hesitate to seek medical assistance. She emphasized the importance of fertility health, stating, “Fertility health is as important as heart health. Lifestyle choices, including processed foods, alcohol consumption, fad diets, and unsupervised supplements, have a significant impact.”
Dr. **Rashmi Niphadkar**, a Fertility Specialist at **Nova IVF Fertility**, pointed out that Indian women’s ovaries age nearly **six years faster** than those of Caucasian women. This statistic underscores the necessity for early and regular testing. “Egg freezing is gaining attention for social reasons, but understanding the right time to freeze eggs is vital,” she explained.
Empowering Informed Choices
Experts believe that integrating fertility testing into routine preventive health check-ups will empower young women to make informed choices regarding their reproductive health. By normalizing these discussions and tests, healthcare providers can help mitigate the stigma surrounding fertility issues and encourage women to prioritize their reproductive well-being.
The findings from this survey reveal a pivotal moment in how **Gen Z women** approach health. As they balance fitness, finance, and family planning, the demand for comprehensive health services that include fertility checks is likely to grow. The proactive stance of this generation may lead to broader societal changes in how fertility health is perceived and managed.
