Ganpati Bappa Tours Mumbai in Open Bus with Taarak Mehta Cast

Ganpati Bappa is making a memorable journey through Mumbai this Ganesh Chaturthi 2025, traveling in an open double-decker bus. This unique event marks the first time in India that the beloved deity is touring the city in such a manner, bringing joy and blessings to the crowds lining the streets. One of the highlights of this extraordinary journey was a stop at the Gokuldham Society, a location famously recognized from the popular television show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
The producer of the show, Asit Kumarr Modi, shared moments from the celebration on social media, showcasing the cast and crew as they welcomed Ganpati Bappa with heartfelt devotion. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as actors such as Dilip Joshi, known for his role as Jethalal, along with Maahi Bhadra and Dharti Bhatt, joined in the festivities. The final image from Modi’s post offered a stunning view of Lord Ganesha seated gracefully in the bus, radiating tranquility.
In his post, Asit Kumarr Modi expressed his gratitude, stating, “Ganapati Bappa Moraya! Got the opportunity to visit Mumbai cha sheth with the Gokuldham family. We were lucky to get Bappa’s darshan and do Aarti. This year’s Bappa is sitting in the open-top bus with a unique idea, indicating that Bappa is everywhere. May Bappa shower happiness, peace, and health in everyone’s life.”
Following the darshan, Modi and Joshi spoke to the Indian news agency IANS, sharing their wishes for the community. When asked if Ganpati Bappa had resolved any personal issues for them, Joshi playfully declined to discuss specifics, saying, “How can we share our personal problems on live television like this? We have told our issues to Bappa, in the ear of his mousal (his vahan).” Modi chimed in with humor, adding, “Bata diya hai Bappa ko ki Daya Bhabhi should come now; we have told that problem to Bappa.”
The sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which first aired on July 28, 2008, on Sony SAB, is based on the popular column “Duniya Ne Undha Chasma” by writer Tarak Mehta. Over the years, the show has become one of the most beloved and longest-running sitcoms in Indian television history, with more than 4,800 episodes to date. It has captivated audiences with its light-hearted narratives and engaging characters, including the iconic roles played by Dilip Joshi as Jethalal and Amit Bhatt as Champaklal Jayantilal Gada.
The series has also welcomed various new faces recently, such as Sachin Shroff, Sunayana Fozdar, Nitish Bhaluni, and several others, adding fresh dynamics to the beloved Gokuldham family. As the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations continue, the spirit of joy and togetherness is palpable throughout Mumbai, with Ganpati Bappa leading the way.
