Former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh Honored on Eighth Anniversary

The eighth death anniversary of former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh was observed on March 10, 2024, in his native village of Nelogi, located in the Jewargi taluk. The commemoration included religious rituals, floral tributes, and a range of public service initiatives that highlighted Singh’s legacy.
Numerous family members, political leaders, spiritual leaders, and admirers gathered at Singh’s memorial to pay their respects. Among those in attendance were Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board Chairman Ajay Singh, former legislator Vijay Singh, and Kalaburagi South MLA Allamprabhu Patil. Community leaders and citizens from various backgrounds also participated in the ceremonies, demonstrating a strong sense of unity and respect for Singh’s contributions.
In a significant gesture, the Dharam Singh Foundation launched a new service called Mukti Vahan, a funeral vehicle initiative aimed at providing dignified transportation for the deceased. This service will be offered free of charge to benefit all sections of society, reflecting Singh’s enduring commitment to public welfare.
At a parallel event in Kalaburagi, Dr. Ajay Singh, who serves as the MLA for Jewargi, alongside family members including Vijay Singh and Prabhavati Dharam Singh, also paid tribute to the late leader. The dignitaries participated in a symbolic tree planting and watering ceremony, further emphasizing a commitment to community and environmental stewardship.
A community leader remarked, “Dharam Singh was a man of the masses who always thought about the welfare of the common people. His initiatives in health and education earned him a permanent place in public memory. Today, by dedicating the funeral vehicle to public service, his son Dr. Ajay Singh has honored his father’s legacy in a meaningful way by responding to the needs of the people.”
The events held in memory of N. Dharam Singh not only celebrated his achievements but also reinforced the ongoing commitment of his family and supporters to create positive change within the community.
