Bhopal Falls Behind in CM Helpline Grievance Redressal Rankings
Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) ranked last among 16 municipal corporations in the recent grievance redressal scores from the Chief Minister’s Helpline. Despite receiving the highest number of complaints—totaling 5,925—the state capital earned a weighted score of 86.38, placing it in the 16th position.
According to a report from the Urban Administration Department (UAD) updated on November 20, 2023, Jabalpur emerged as the top performer with 3,539 complaints and an impressive score of 98.58. Following Jabalpur, Sagar secured second place with a score of 97.89, while Singrauli and Chhindwara ranked third and fourth, achieving scores of 97.74 and 97.54, respectively.
Departmental Performance Highlights
The report also provided insights into the performance of various departments. Among the 30 major departments evaluated, the Planning, Economics and Statistics Department stood out as the best performer, with a weighted score of 93.2%. This department managed to address 1,869 complaints, resolving 54.64% of them to the satisfaction of citizens.
The Energy Department followed closely in second place with a score of 90.26, handling a substantial 42,868 complaints. The Urban Administration Department secured third place, achieving a score of 89.35 while dealing with 48,657 complaints. In contrast, the Technical Education, Skill Development & Employment Department recorded the lowest score of 68.95 from 697 complaints.
In the second group of departments, the Cottage & Village Industries Department excelled with a score of 89.03, while the Culture Department ranked at the bottom with a score of 31.46 from just 23 complaints.
