Assam Hosts National Deshbhakti Quiz Competition Celebrating Unity
In a significant celebration of unity and patriotism, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) of Assam organized the fifth Deshbhakti Divas Quiz Competition on March 15, 2024. The event, held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium in Guwahati, attracted 348 teams from various states across India, marking it as a truly national-level contest.
Strong Participation and Competitive Spirit
Out of a total of 650 registered teams, participants included contestants from renowned locations like Kerala and Delhi. The competition was conducted by esteemed quizmaster Achinta Sharma and comprised two phases: a preliminary round featuring a written test of 32 questions, followed by a final round.
From the preliminary round, six teams advanced to the final: Across the College Gate, Oo Aa Ka Kha, Saare Jahan Se Accha, Ghadar Party, The Three Body Problem, and DAB. Ultimately, The Three Body Problem claimed the top prize, while Saare Jahan Se Accha and Ghadar Party secured second and third places, respectively. The winners will receive prize money of ₹100,000 for first place, ₹75,000 for second, and ₹50,000 for third, with additional awards allocated to other participating teams.
Celebrating Heritage and Inter-Generational Participation
A noteworthy aspect of this quiz was the involvement of members from three generations within the same teams, showcasing a spirit of unity and shared patriotism. The event commenced with a tribute by Kumar Padmapani Bora, Commissioner & Secretary of the Departments of Information, Public Relations, Printing & Stationery, honoring the legacy of the great patriot Tarun Ram Phukoon.
During the event, Shri Pijush Hazarika, the Hon’ble Minister, expressed his appreciation for the DIPR’s efforts in organizing such a grand competition. He highlighted the significance of inter-generational participation, calling it truly inspirational, and extended his gratitude to all participants, including those from outside the home state.
In between the quiz rounds, the audience was entertained by cultural performances from the DIPR’s cultural wing, alongside invited artists, adding to the festive atmosphere of the day.
Deshbhakti Divas has been celebrated since 2021 as a tribute to Tarun Ram Phukoon. The observance occurs at both state and district levels, reflecting the state’s commitment to honor its heritage. Tomorrow, at 09:00, floral tributes will be offered at the statue of Tarun Ram Phukoon located at Tarun Ram Phukoon Udyan, Bharalumukh. The state-level program is scheduled to take place at 11:00 at the conference hall of Lok Sewa Bhawan, Assam Secretariat.
This event not only highlighted the competitive spirit among participants but also reinforced the importance of cultural heritage and community engagement in fostering national unity.
