Telangana’s New TIMS Hospitals Set to Meet Corporate Standards
The Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) is set to elevate healthcare standards in the region. Minister for Health C. Damodar Raja Narasimha has ordered officials to ensure that the new TIMS hospitals in Sanathnagar, LB Nagar, and Alwal adhere to the benchmarks established by leading corporate healthcare providers. Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and patient care, the Minister highlighted the need for these institutions to replicate the best practices of renowned hospitals such as AIG, Apollo, Yashoda, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bibinagar.
In a review meeting held in October 2023, Minister Narasimha discussed preparations for the inauguration of the Sanathnagar TIMS facility. Senior health officials presented a comprehensive report detailing the policies and management models employed by these prestigious hospitals. The Minister stressed the necessity for a structured governance model at TIMS, similar to that of NIMS, which would provide autonomy and establish clear divisions of responsibility between clinical and non-clinical operations.
To ensure effective management and accountability, Narasimha called for a distinct separation of departments involved in clinical services, administrative functions, and academic oversight. He proposed that these areas be supervised by a medical director, a medical superintendent, and a chief operating officer, respectively. Each role would have a clearly defined job chart to enhance accountability within the system.
The emphasis on adopting proven management strategies from established hospitals reflects a commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services to the community. By focusing on cleanliness, patient care, and structured governance, the TIMS hospitals aim to become a benchmark in the healthcare sector, ultimately benefiting the residents of Telangana.
As the preparations continue, the Government of Telangana remains dedicated to establishing TIMS as a leading healthcare institution that meets international standards, ensuring that residents have access to top-tier medical services.
