PGIMS Unveils Toy Room to Enhance Comfort for Young Patients

In a significant development aimed at improving the experience of young patients, the PGIMS (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences) has inaugurated a dedicated toy room within the pediatric outpatient department (OPD). This initiative is designed to create a more comforting environment for children receiving medical care. The facility was officially opened by Dr. HK Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, who praised the efforts of the PGIMS Medical Superintendent, Dr. Kundal Mittal.

Dr. Mittal highlighted the challenges many children face during visits to the pediatric department. “We often see children crying and becoming restless due to the crowd and waiting times,” he explained. The newly established toy room, which caters to children aged 1 to 6 years, is equipped with a variety of toys aimed at engaging young patients, thereby making their check-ups more pleasant.

Creating a Home-like Atmosphere for Young Patients

The toy room is not merely a recreational space; it also serves a vital role in promoting the emotional well-being of child patients. Dr. Mittal emphasized that the initiative aligns with the institution’s goal of providing a stress-free, home-like environment in both the OPD and wards. “Our aim is to ensure that children can recover faster by reducing anxiety during their visits,” he stated.

Dr. Ashok Chauhan, Dean of PGIMS, underscored the importance of the toy room, describing it as a safe haven where children can feel secure and engaged.
