King George Hospital Launches Mammogram Awareness Initiative

The Medical Oncology Department of King George Hospital (KGH) organized an awareness program on October 11, 2023, to promote early detection of breast cancer as part of the ongoing breast cancer awareness month. The event featured several key speakers, including I Vani, Superintendent of KGH, and Butchibabu, Head of Radiology.
Dr. Butchibabu emphasized the importance of mammogram screening for early detection of breast cancer. He urged all women over the age of 40 to participate in the screening, which will be provided free of charge at KGH. “Early detection through mammogram screening can significantly improve treatment outcomes,” he stated, encouraging eligible women to take advantage of this vital health service.
In her address, I Vani spoke about the broader theme of women’s health, highlighting the need for preventative care and raising awareness about various health issues affecting women. She underscored the importance of regular health check-ups and screenings.
Advocate Divya Prasad, who served as the chief guest, reiterated that a family’s health is often reliant on the well-being of its women. “Women should prioritize their health, as it plays a crucial role in family dynamics,” she remarked, lauding the efforts of government hospitals and healthcare workers in providing essential services to the community. Following her speech, she visited the Oncology ward, engaging with patients and offering words of encouragement.
The event concluded with a ceremonial release of pink balloons, symbolizing breast cancer awareness, and was organized by K. Shilpa, Head of Medical Oncology, who also recognized the contributions of the guests. The initiative aims not only to educate women about the importance of breast health but also to foster a supportive environment for those affected by breast cancer.
Through programs like this, King George Hospital continues to play a vital role in promoting health awareness and providing necessary services to the community. The hospital encourages all eligible women to take advantage of the free mammogram screenings available throughout the month.
