The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) has called for online bids to construct a new 15-bedded urban primary health centre in Cuncolim, with an estimated project cost of Rs 21 crore. This initiative represents a critical advancement in addressing the healthcare needs of Cuncolim and surrounding areas, which include a significant migrant workforce employed at the local industrial estate.

The project was first announced in January 2023 and is designed to serve both local residents and the sizable migrant population. According to the tender document, the health centre will feature a multi-storeyed structure with a pile foundation. The construction is expected to be completed within 18 months, inclusive of the challenging monsoon period.

Details of the Tender Process

Contractors interested in participating must submit their bids by November 18, 2023, with the opening of tenders scheduled for November 20, 2023. The project has stringent eligibility criteria that potential bidders must meet. These include having successfully completed similar projects valued at no less than Rs 17 crore within the last seven years.

Additionally, contractors must demonstrate an average annual turnover exceeding Rs 6 crore for the past three financial years and provide a solvency certificate of at least Rs 8 crore. An earnest money deposit of Rs 31 lakh is also required as part of the tender conditions.

The establishment of this health centre is seen as a significant step towards improving healthcare access in the region. Local officials and residents have long recognized the need for enhanced medical facilities, particularly given the growing population and the healthcare demands of the workforce at the industrial estate.

As the bidding process unfolds, the GSIDC aims to ensure that qualified contractors can contribute to this vital infrastructure project, thereby enhancing the quality of healthcare services available to the community.
