Yami Gautam Celebrates Diwali Traditions with Son Vedavid in Chandigarh
Yami Gautam is preparing to celebrate Diwali in her hometown of Chandigarh, sharing her enthusiasm for the festival and her family’s cherished traditions. The well-known actress expressed her excitement about the preparations leading up to the festival, emphasizing the warmth and joy that fills the atmosphere.
In an exclusive interview, Gautam elaborated on the various customs that define her family’s Diwali celebrations. “Right from cleaning the house, discarding what you don’t need, getting new home decor, kitchen utilities, and buying gifts, the whole vibe is warm and filled with excitement,” she noted.
Family Traditions and Festive Preparations
Gautam is particularly eager for her son, Vedavid, to embrace these traditions. She described the significance of rituals such as lighting diyas on Dhanteras, performing puja on Chhoti Diwali, and creating rangoli designs with soaked rice paste. “It was fascinating watching my mom making them without stencils, and we would be careful not to spoil it while playing around,” she reminisced.
While Vedavid is still young, Gautam mentioned that he enjoys observing the city illuminated with lights and the excitement of fireworks. “We make ‘mitti ke ghar’ that are placed in the puja room and offer sweets in the mandir. Vedavid is always part of the puja and he tries his best to chip in when we are cleaning the house,” she said.
Gautam and her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar, share similar values and strive to maintain these family traditions. “We like to celebrate Diwali, and that’s something we wish to continue,” she affirmed.
Decorations and Culinary Delights
The actress expressed her love for decorating her home with diyas, highlighting the comforting aroma of mustard oil when lighting them. “It represents warmth and blessings, so I would always insist on being given the duty of placing diyas in all the rooms of the house,” Gautam shared.
She also discussed her preferences for festive lights, stating, “Fairy lights are nice too, but I only like warm colours, one-tone lights.” When it comes to sweets, she has a fondness for traditional delicacies like gulab jamun and kaju katli, as well as shagun snacks such as gurpara, shakkarpara, matri, and mathi.
With a successful career in both film and OTT projects, Gautam has five upcoming releases that she is looking forward to. She expressed gratitude for the trust that the audience places in her, stating, “I feel a certain sense of responsibility that the audience places so much trust in me, and I will always do my best to live up to their expectations. I’m also thankful to my directors and producers who create magic with cinema.”
As Diwali approaches, Yami Gautam continues to cherish her family’s traditions while eagerly preparing for the celebrations that unite her family and community.
