Salim Khan, the father of Bollywood star Salman Khan, recently shared insights into his family’s dietary habits, stating that they have never consumed beef. In a conversation with the Free Press Journal, he elaborated on his interfaith marriage with wife Salma Khan, born Sushila Charak, while explaining the reasons behind their dietary choices.

Khan emphasized that despite being from a Muslim background, his family has consistently abstained from eating beef. He noted, “From Indore until today, we have never had beef. Beef is eaten by most Muslims as it is the cheapest meat! Some even buy it to feed pet dogs. But in the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, he has clearly stated that a cow’s milk is a substitute for mother’s milk and it is a mufid (beneficial) cheez. He has stated that cows should not be killed and beef is forbidden.”

In entertainment news, filmmaker Kunal Kohli reflected on his experience working with actors Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra during the filming of Teri Meri Kahaani in 2012. At that time, the duo was rumored to be dating, which Kohli described as a challenging dynamic on set.

Speaking to Faridoon Shahryar, Kohli mentioned that directing couples can be more complex than anticipated. “It’s actually not fun because there are days when they are not talking,” he explained. Despite the challenges, he praised Priyanka Chopra as a consummate professional. “She is the best person to work with, thorough professional, best for production and director, lovely person,” he added.

In a somber update, actress Priya Marathe, known for her role in the popular television series Pavitra Rishta, passed away in Mumbai on August 31, 2025, at the age of 38 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Reports indicate that Marathe had been undergoing treatment for over a year, but her condition deteriorated significantly in her final days, leading to her passing at her home in Mira Road, Mumbai.

In lighthearted news, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her annual visit to the GSB Ganpati celebrations in Mumbai, celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 with her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. The pair was seen navigating through a crowd of devotees as they sought blessings from Lord Ganesha. Photos and videos from their visit quickly circulated on social media, showcasing their interactions with fans.

Meanwhile, actress Sumona Chakravarti reported a distressing incident involving her car being mobbed by protesters in South Mumbai. On August 31, while driving from Colaba to Fort around 12:30 PM, her vehicle was blocked by Maratha quota protesters. Chakravarti described the scene, stating that one individual banged on her bonnet while others pounded on her car windows, chanting slogans.

She raised concerns regarding safety in Mumbai, expressing her feelings of vulnerability in the situation. “I felt very unsafe,” she stated, criticizing the lack of police presence during the incident and emphasizing that Mumbaikars deserve to feel secure in their own city.

As these stories unfold, they illustrate the diverse tapestry of life in Mumbai, encompassing cultural traditions, personal losses, and ongoing societal issues.
